Andrew Marusak, Author

Andrew Marusak began his quest to discover God as an altar server in a small-town Texas church. He questioned the image presented to him then, but Catholic guilt kept him from sharing his views.

As an adult and school teacher, Andrew took his doubts and curiosity on a quest around the world. Alone, with his wife Michaela, and then with twin children along for the ride, he traveled to far-flung places in search of answers.

Andrew has visited over fifty countries and lived in eight, where he has experienced all the major religions and many others. In his interactions with believers of all stripes, he has encountered wildly conflicting—but also strangely similar—views. More importantly, he’s found some of what he was looking for.

Today Andrew believes in God outside of the dictates of organized religion and spirituality, and he wants others to experience the same freedom of discovery. He prays that Lose Your Religion, Find Your Faith will help readers to ask their own questions and find the answers that are right for them.

Andrew currently resides in Songdo, South Korea, where he continues his search.

Places

I have travelled to over 50 countries and made 8 of them my home: the US, Kuwait, Cyprus, Thailand, Israel, Indonesia, Jamaica, and South Korea. Currently my home is in Songdo, South Korea. The largest denomination in Korea is “no religion.” But there are remnants of spirituality (like this spirit path at the Confucian Jongmyo Shrine). There are also evangelicals handing out candy & pens while recruiting on street corners.

Process

My books are written in Scrivener on a MacBook Air laptop. But I also mix it up “old school” with pen and paper and notecards for organization.
